Kids Yoga Stories is pleased to recommend the darling bilingual book My Friends/Mis Amigos by Taro Gomi. Born in Tokyo, Taro Gomi is one of Japan’s most popular children’s book writers and illustrators. He has over 300 books in print, for both adults and children.
The story follows a little girl who meets up with various animal friends during a walk. She learns something from each of them: jumping like a dog, climbing like a monkey, and running like a horse. It’s a great little book to start a discussion about learning something from everyone we meet.
It is also a great book to act out through yoga poses for kids. You can pretend to be a cat, dog, horse, butterfly, and rabbit. For more ideas on the poses and descriptions, see our Animal Friends Yoga post.
For Spanish language activities to go with the post, don’t miss the post on Spanish Playground for listening activities, puppets, games, and book-making.
We hope you enjoy this My Friends/Mis Amigos book!
