Express Yourself through Cat Yoga
International Cat Day is coming up on August 8th!
Our family would love to own a cat, but unfortunately, my husband suffers from bad allergies. So instead of owning a cat, my daughter and I visit the local animal rescue shelter to meet the cats there. I had two cats growing up, so I tell my daughter about how each cat has a distinct personality.

5 CAT YOGA POSES FOR KIDS
Pretend to be an angry cat.
How to practice Cat Pose: Come to an all-fours position, round your back, and tuck your chin into your chest. Pretend to be angry.

Pretend to be a confident cat.
How to practice Extended Cat Pose: On all fours, extend one leg out behind you and look forward. Take the opposite arm out in front of you to counterbalance. Repeat on the other side. Pretend to be confident.

Pretend to be a frisky cat.
How to practice Kneeling Pose: Shift back to a kneeling position, standing on your knees. Open your chest, take your arms down alongside your body, and pretend to be frisky.

Pretend to be a playful cat.
How to practice Happy Baby Pose: Lie on your back with your chin tucked in, hug your knees to your chest, then grab the outer parts of each foot—right foot in right hand and left foot in left hand. Pretend to be playful.
Pretend to be a lazy cat.
How to practice Lying Twist: Lie flat on your back. Bend your legs and bring your knees together. Take your arms out parallel to the sides. Drop your knees over to the left and turn your head to look out to the right. You could take your left hand on top of your bent legs. Come back to center and repeat on the other side. Pretend to be lazy.
