Yoga and Mindfulness Videos for Calm
As the quarantine days turn into weeks, I constantly have to remind myself of the yoga sutra which states: “We need a balance of both effort and surrender in life.”
On those days when my nervous system is off the charts, my chest is tight, and my mind is buzzing, I force myself to pause and look inward. It’s hard—it truly is. The intensity of the emotional roller coaster is exhausting—there are wonderful moments of laughter and then crashing down of tears. Surely I’m not alone with this, right?
Acknowledging that all of us are handling this current time differently—some people are thriving, while some people are suffering—I thought it might be helpful to share some yoga videos that might be just the right experience to help you surrender and let go.
3 yoga resource videos to help you slow down:
1. Yoga with Adriene
I’d heard about yoga with Adriene before the quarantine, but never had time to check out her videos. But now, they have become a welcome addition to our home routine. Her YouTube channel is organized into video lengths, so it’s easy to choose a video to fit into your schedule.
For example, yesterday I had an open window of 30 minutes and did her Core and Booty video. But I also love her 5-minute morning yoga class, too. Adriene’s classes are slow paced, with excellent sequencing, with no frills and distractions, and they are great for children, too.

2. GoNoodle meditations and yoga
We mentioned GoNoodle.com as a resource for the fun fitness videos the other week, and it’s another great resource for meditations and yoga.
Try searching the site for “yoga”, “meditations”, or “calm.” You’ll find:
- calming, inspiring videos by Empower Tools
- meditations by Flow
- breathing techniques by Moose Tube
- entertaining yoga videos with Maximo
These GoNoodle videos are perfect for brain breaks or transition times. They are quick and easy. And once you and your children have come to calm, then you can search for more active, energetic videos to get your wiggles out!

3. CALM MEDITATION
Sometimes, we just need to take a pause, lie down or sit somewhere comfortable, and listen to a meditation to help ourselves regroup. Kids Yoga Stories has just put three of our Simple Meditations into YouTube videos for you to share with your children and students. Check out this Calm Meditation, which is a body scan for a quick 4-minute break.
