Best of 2015: Winter Yoga for Kids

I’m excited to once again join kid blogger friends in a celebration of the most popular posts on the Kids Yoga Stories blog for 2015: Yoga Poses for Kids and Winter Yoga for Kids.

Just like in 2013 and 2014, our most popular post was the list of Yoga Poses for Kids. The alphabetical list of yoga poses for kids features a yoga kids (Anamika, Baraka, Luke, Sophia, Pablo, or Elizabeth) in the pose, the name of the yoga pose, a list of sample keywords for the pose, and a brief description. Currently, there are 58 yoga poses listed, but this post is constantly being edited and updated. Remember that this list of kids yoga poses serves as an inspiration guide, so please encourage your children’s creativity. This page was the inspiration for our yoga cards for kids and our focus yoga pose project. I’m thrilled to hear that many of you are finding this page a useful kids yoga resource!

But today I’ll highlight our second-most popular post, so that we aren’t just highlighting the same post year after year!

Arctic Animals Yoga for Kids:
Featured Post of Kids Yoga Stories in 2015

Now that my family and I are living in a place that is snowy in the winter, we fully understand how challenging it can be for children to get exercise during the winter months. So it’s not a surprise that KYS’s second-most popular post from 2015 (according to Google Analytics) was the Arctic Animals Yoga sequence! And who doesn’t love pretending to be a polar bear, snow goose, and arctic fox. There is something so magical about the arctic. I love to read about the arctic with my daughter, but to be honest, it’s not somewhere I hope to visit! Although my husband keeps telling me that traveling to Antarctica is on his bucket list. Brrrr.

So grab your favorite arctic animal books and act out these eleven arctic animals – click here to read the whole article:

Winter Yoga Book for Kids

While we are on the topic of celebrating winter, here is the Kids Yoga Stories winter yoga book for toddlers and preschoolers, Jenny’s Winter Walk. This story was inspired by winter walks that I take with my daughter at a local wildlife refuge:

Act out what Jenny and her mother see and hear on a winter walk with this winter forest yoga book. Bring their winter walk alive through movement. This yoga book is a great springboard for acting out other things you might see on a winter forest walk together.
