Neighborhoods Around the World Series: San Francisco, California

We are joining a group of amazing bloggers from around the world who are all going to show you around their neighborhood.  The Neighborhoods Around the World Series is hosted by The Piri-Piri Lexicon.  There will be twenty four countries represented and thirty three entries spanning the entire globe.  In October and November, every two days, you will be able to discover a little corner of the world you may not know and see how people live there.

You can find the schedule for this little world tour here.

Kids Yoga Inspired by our Neighborhood

Now, the post wouldn’t be complete without some neighborhood-inspired kids yoga poses, right?!  We visited a lake that is near our house and here is what we saw, along with the matching yoga poses:

A Visit to the Lake

Tree – Tree Pose
(Stand on one leg, bend your knee, place the sole of your foot on your inner thigh, and balance.  Sway like a tree.)

Duck – Squat Pose
(Come down to a squat, flap your arms like wings, and waddle like a duck.)

Dog – Downward-Facing Dog Pose
(Step back to hands and feet, with your buttocks high in the air, and bark like a dog.)

Turtle – Extended Child’s Pose
(Come to sitting back on your heels, slowly bring your forehead down to rest in front of your knees, place the palm of your hands flat out in front of you, and take a few deep breaths.)

Fallen Log – Resting Pose
(Lie on your back with your arms and legs stretched out.  Breathe and rest.)
