Aussie Kids Books for Yoga Contest Giveaway

There’s no doubt that kids love books!
At kids yoga classes, we use all sorts of books as inspiration for doing a few yoga postures, as most childrens books have animals in them, and a lot of yoga postures are named after animals.
One of our favourite books is called Wheels on the Bus, and kids actually request this song even when it’s not on our yoga class plan! It’s a beautifully illustrated Australian version of the book by Mandy Foot, where a cheeky wombat bus driver drives his animal passengers around Australia; from Darwin to the Daintree, from Bondi Beach to the Great Barrier Reef, and from Pilbara to Tasmania.
I loved Mandy’s cute and cheeky illustrations so much that I asked her to illustrate a cute little bee as our logo for beeyoga. ‘Wheels on the Bus’ is a popular kids song with lots of actions that can be done in yoga, like cycling legs round and round, and opening and shutting arms.
We will attach some instructions on what yoga postures you can do with each verse of the song, together with the benefits of the various exercises. Suitable for babies, toddlers and even older children.

It’s very special when books are written especially with kids yoga in mind like this new book just released this month called Luke’s Beach Day. It’s rare to find books like these and I love all of Giselle Shardlow’s kids yoga story books. My review for this brand new book is here:
“This is a delightful little story about a boy called Luke and his friends at an Australian Beach. I love how the story strings several yoga poses in a sequence to create an adventure at the beach! Kids yoga is a big adventure and children will love listening to the story and then playing with the various postures in the book. I usually adapt kids story books in our yoga classes, looking for postures we can do as we read familiar stories, and it is so handy to have a book like this, specially designed for kids yoga. It has loads of postures that children love doing such as Sun Salute, Tree Pose, Kangaroo Pose, and pretending to surf pose. I also love how it gently introduces children to the idea of protecting the environment. This book is suitable for toddlers too. My daughter is almost three and we were delighted to read it together when it first arrived. It is beautifully illustrated for younger readers to follow along. At the end of the book are some excellent tips for teachers and parents for practising yoga with children. I truly believe anyone can do yoga with kids, and books like this just make it so much easier to spread the joy of yoga across the world, to young and old.”
