SMART Goals: March, 2014

Snow, snow, and more snow!

That has been my focus for the past few weeks.  Snow plowing, raking snow off the roof, water leaks in the house, and no-school snow days.  Wow, what an adventure!

And to think that we left seventy-degree San Francisco weather for this!  Just kidding—we are enjoying our new life in New England.  Nonetheless, we’re glad spring is just around the corner.

On a personal note, I read three parenting books and attended a parenting webinar.  Things between my daughter and me have definitely shifted.  I am learning to fully embrace her high-spirited temperament and use positive parenting techniques to create a happier, more harmonious home life.  The screaming tantrums have reduced significantly.

Now, I need to focus on ways to build up my own energy source.

With Kids Yoga Stories, Emily, Stefanie, and I have been busy working on the finishing touches of Hello, Bali, a kids yoga island adventure for young children.  Also, our African Safari counting yoga book is currently in production.  Our Valentine’s Day and Winter Olympics kids yoga sequences were a huge hit.  I’m excited to see families and teachers using active ideas to celebrate holidays and special events.

March will be a month of blossom for my family and my yoga stories.

My SMART goals for March

My mantra for the past few years is: “Happy, healthy, and wealthy.” Wealthy for me means not just financial freedom for my family, but also abundance in love, emotion, fulfillment, and gratitude.

This year, I’m teaming up with ten other bloggers, and we’re all writing our monthly goals in the hopes of inspiring you to write your goals, too.  Please join us, tell us your goals, and share your successes and failures. Here’s to our collective growth and making the world a better place!

This month, I will:

HAPPINESS:

  • Continue reading and learning about positive parenting techniques.
  • Talk to my husband about getting time to myself to fill up my “energy” buck.
  • Engage in social activities to create a community in our new neighborhood.

HEALTHY:

  • Continue to create a daily yoga practice for myself and another with my daughter, even if only for a few minutes a day.
  • Attend at least one yoga class per week at a nearby yoga studio.
  • Go for weekly hikes with my husband and daughter.

PASSION:

  • Share a St. Patrick’s Day and spring-themed kids yoga class plans on the Kids Yoga Stories website.
  • Compile the answers of the Kids Yoga Stories feedback survey and share the results.
  • Continue with the production of two of our yoga stories: 123 African Safari and Hello, Bali.  Continue editing the next yoga story.
  • Participate in the Read Aloud national March campaign.
  • Celebrate the Good Night, Animal World virtual book tour hosted by Mother Daughter Book Reviews from March 10th to 23rd with fifty bloggers.

As always, I would love to hear your feedback. Please e-mail me at giselle at kidsyogastories dot com with your suggestions for improvement, either for the yoga stories or website. Help me deliver high-quality content that assists you with bringing happiness, health, and global education to children everywhere.

What are your goals for March? What does your mind, body, and spirit need right now during this changing of seasons?  Who can support you through this time?
