Got this for my 5 yr old sister because for some reason she wanted an Australia coloring book! It’s so cute because she tries the yoga poses too!

Here’s what I love about this book:
*A picture of the kids yoga pose is in the corner of each page
*The targeted vocabulary for each letter is in bold font
*The font is large & easy to read
*The alphabet letter is large but more faintly shown than the rest of the picture on each page. This will make it fun for kids to look for the letter (an easy version of a seek-and-find)
*It’s a fun way to learn the names of Australian wildlife. Some are familiar (crocodile, whale, jellyfish, koala, etc…) but most would be new to those of us who do not live in that part of the world (brolga, echidna, goanna, numbat, quoll, etc…).
*The 6-page Parent-Teacher Guide section at the end of the coloring book is a goldmine of great tips for setting up a fun & safe yoga storytime for kids. Gotta share this quote from the book: “Ooze creativity, imagination and abundance. Encourage each child to tap into his or her own creativity and imagination through movement and breath. Welcome quiet times for reflection. Pause often. Remember, it’s not the end result, but the journey where miracles happen…”. She also gives several ideas for extension activities. Giselle’s passion and love for kids & learning shines through
*Lots of great verbs & adjectives will make this book fun to use in my work as a Speech-Language Pathologist (ex: a crocodile snoozing in the swampy mangroves, a platypus paddling in a murky river, etc…).
*LOVE the combination of nature, alphabet/early literacy skills, coloring & movement….. what a fun way to tap into “multiple intelligences”! Add some Australian music & affirmations to tap into a couple more.

I love this book and how easy it is to incorporate into my kids yoga classes. There are so many ways to use this book in and out of class. My students love pretending they are in Australia and have learned about so many new animals. I love how there is a picture of Luke doing the pose on each page. My students get to take this home and color it (with a loved one ), so they can share what they learned in class that day. A few of my students used the pictures to create new yoga stories of their own.
Thank you for making a great tool for teaching and learning and doing kids yoga!

I loved the first book, Sophie’s Jungle Adventure, so was excited to purchase Luke’s A to Z of Australian Animals. My first graders love doing the yoga poses as little brain breaks throughout the day and now they can follow up with the coloring page that they can take home and share with their families. The picture of Luke doing the pose with the picture of the animal helps kids make this connection and remember the yoga position. Can’t wait to purchase the next book!

This is a fun book for kids that’s packed with a lot of yoga poses! I read it with my 5 year old son and he loves it too. I’m planning to do an Australia themed yoga kids camp this summer and we will definitely use this coloring book. My only critique is (and I realize I’m being a stickler here) I would have used lizard pose / utthan pristhana for the Goanna lizard and 5 ptd. star for the seastar. That being said, this is a great book for kids to see and learn about Australian animals while practicing yoga.

I found this to be a great resource book in the classroom. The children could relate to the animals and even invented some of their own.
The colouring is a great way for the children to practice and take home to show parents.

I think you have been quite inventive with your poses and even though the lizard pose isn’t what a typical adult would do, it’s different for children and this is what they like.

When I teach the children make up all sorts of new and interesting variations and this is what it’s all about.
This gives them a taste at a simple level to try, and all schools should have this book to start out with.
    Well done.

As a preschool owner/ teacher and yoga teacher I have found Giselle’s books to be well loved by the children. I like the parent/teacher guide because teaching children’s yoga may be intimidating to a parent or teacher without any yoga experience.

I also like to introduce the children to multi cultural resources and this book gives them a connection to the familiar (yoga poses) and the different animals. I also copy the pages so every child gets a coloring page with the letter we are working on.

I would also like to recommend Anna and her Rainbow-Colored Yoga Mats. The children always ask for me to read it and express such deep compassion for Anna, who is hearing impaired.

This book makes an excellent gift for any little boy or as a classroom resource.

My son loves this coloring book, well he loves all things with animals and yoga. He just recently was given a yoga mat and now all he wants to do is show me poses! Luke’s Australian Animals just makes his little mind go crazy with new poses and new animals he has never seen, such as a Numbat! Super cute imagery, easy to read, and time well spent with my kiddo when he pulls this one off the shelf! A real winner!
