    :

The ABC’s of Australian Animals is a rich and unique expedition into the Australian outback, allowing children from around the world to learn about Australian wildlife via auditory, visual, and kinetic methods of learning. This wholistic approach to education, bridging yoga with the introduction of both the ABCs and a new continent of animals, is an incredibly inspired approach to yoga practice. The fluidity and simplicity of the book’s presentation make it easy for the older child to use independently, while the parental-help section allows for parents who aren’t well versed with yoga to feel confident engaging in the easy and beneficial poses with their child(ren). Highly recommended and much enjoyed.

I found the pictures clear, colourful and fun. The poses offer huge variety. I especially love the listing of the yoga poses and corresponding animal poses at the back of the book. There is lots of scope for variety in planning classes. I found myself trying out the poses as I was reading as they looked like and indeed were great fun.

Once again, I think the book is great. It’s perfect for the preschool/early years level who respond so well to fun and imaginative ways of learning.

The yoga poses used are suitable for the age group the book is aimed at, and encourage different types of movement for example ‘swaying’ and ‘flapping’. Linked with this are the environments in which the animal will be found in a simple yet descriptive way. The illustrations are appealing and fun.

Being a Children’s Yoga Teacher in the UK, the book will provide an exciting way not only to teach yoga and the alphabet but also to learn about the animals of a country at the other side of the world. There is a scope for expansion & how to encourage further creativity and learning, including with older children.

Just finished reading through the new book “The ABC’s of Australian Animals” with my 5 year old son. He and I did all the poses as we read through it. We had a great time and my little guy made up some of his own poses along the way. He was just so excited about the letters of the alphabet that he found on each page. He sounded out the letter sounds and loved the new animals he had never seen before. He likened the Australian animals to some we find in the US. The pictures were very colorful and exciting to him and he loved to see the poses demonstrated on each page. We love to play games in my 2-5 year old classes and the ABC’s would be a great learning experience as well. We absolutely LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the book and we look forward to future books by Kids Yoga Stories.

I absolutely love this book and cannot wait to buy a copy! I can think of so many different ways to use this in class (especially with 3-6yo). I love the fact that there are animals in the story that are not your typical everyday animals so therefore giving the children new animals to learn about because at that at early age levels they probably have not heard of some of them before! Absolutely fabulous, would not change a thing! Well done! Oh and I love that it’s Australian!!!

A Great Way to Learn and Exercise!

My boys adore ABC books so I was a little unsure of whether or not this book would become a favorite among their other ABC books, but was delightfully surprised at how much they loved it. They frequently reach for this book, oftentimes doing the yoga poses on their own (they are 2 and 4 years old). And my oldest will randomly shout a pose name (e.g., dancer’s pose) and try to form the pose.

What I love about this book:

    -Bright and colorful illustrations
-Easy to understand illustrations of the yoga poses
-Learning about animals that are foreign to us
-Suggestions for other ways to extend the book in the back
-The poses related to the animals in some way, which my boys loved!
-That my boys were actively engaged in this book through physical movement.
-Learning about a different place in the world

Great interactive book! Definitely worth every penny.

Another fun yoga adventure from Kids Yoga Stories!

Here’s what I love about the book:
    * Love the nice bright illustrations at the top of each page! I like that the animals and scenery are more prominent on each page yet the letter is still easy to spot.
    * Love the larger font & larger pose illustration at the bottom each page. Additional details about the poses are provided in the back of the book.
    * It’s a fun way to learn the names of Australian wildlife. Some are familiar (crocodile, whale, jellyfish, koala, etc…) but most would be new to those of us who do not live in that part of the world (brolga, echidna, goanna, numbat, quoll, etc…).
    * The Kids Yoga Stories Guide section included at the end of every book is full of great tips for setting up a fun & safe yoga storytime for kids. This is one of the extra features that makes Giselle’s books stand out.
    * A great new feature in this book is a free coloring page from Luke’s A to Z of Australian Animals: an Alphabet Coloring Book included at the end!
